I have noticed quite a few books which feature whales and whale rescues. They always seem to involve young boys. Often the boys are lonely, some perform heroic deeds rescuing the whale. Quite often a father may be involved. The father is often a side character who at the end of the book reunites with his son or perhaps finds a way to better express his love for the son.
There are lots of middle grade novels about rescuing whales.
