Meet the illustrator Briony May Smith

Blurb: Hodge, an adorable bunny, is minding his own business... well, he's stealing some carrots from Mrs Sprat's garden, actually... when he ends up stuck in the hedge. Mrs Sprat advances, wanting to get rid of the pesky bunny, and a buzzard overheard spies a tasty rabbit dinner, too. Can Hodge escape from bird of prey and angry gardener in time to take the carrots home?

I spied this book illustrated by Briony May Smith in a library a couple of weeks ago. I really like her style of illustrations. Grab that Rabbit by Polly Faber is a fun, if fairly slight, story but the art by Briony May Smith makes the whole book look very appealing. I do love the name Hodge! Take a look here to see the way Briony May Smith designed her illustrations for Grab that Rabbit.

Briony studied Illustration at Falmouth University, and was highly commended for the Macmillan Children’s Book Prize in both 2013 and 2014. She takes her inspiration from the fairytales and folklore of UK and Ireland, where she spent much of her childhood. ... (her) favourite books as a child: Cicley Mary Barker ‘Flower Fairies’, Graeme Base ‘The Eleventh Hour’, Lucy Cousins ‘Portley’s Hat’  Nobrow Press

I have previously talked about these:

In this interview Briony May Smith talks with My Book Corner. Here are other books illustrated by Briony May Smith that I need to find and read:
