Jack's Jumper by Sara Acton

Jack loves his huge jumper (sweater). He wears it every day and every where. He also uses as a play thing. It can be a hat or a soft place to fall. It is great for hide and seek and useful for magic tricks. He can even use it to look like an elephant or make the sleeve into a periscope. The jumper used to belong to Jack's brother Paul but now Paul has left home to travel. He does send postcards but Jack misses his brother.

No one is allowed to wash the jumper. It has a special smell and stains that act as reminders of past fun but one day while Jack is in the bath someone takes the jumper. It is the cat and she manages to unravel the whole garment so all Jack is left with is a pile of wool. Luckily his brother arrives home and luckily his brother has the most wonderful solution to this problem.

Jack's Jumper was published in 2022 so it might be a CBCA Early Childhood notable title. These will be announced at the end of February.
