Happy Library Lovers' Day

What a school thinks about its library is a measure of what it feels about education. Harold Howe

Check out my post from 2022 and my post from 2020 about Library Lovers' Day 14th February

Get ready to celebrate Library Lovers’ Day on February 14 - a day dedicated to honoring our beloved libraries and all of the knowledge, books, and other resources they provide! This holiday has been around for over 20 years now, with its origins in Australia. It's a great way to show your appreciation for your local library and encourage others to visit as well. Whether you're looking for a quiet place to read, researching an important project, or exploring the endless possibilities of libraries, Library Lovers' Day is the perfect time to get involved and support your library - at school and in your community.

It is an awfully sad misconception that librarians simply check books in and out. The library is the heart of a school, and without a librarian, it is but an empty shell. Jarrett J. Krosoczka

Here are some books to explore:

The Library
by Barbara A. Huff

It looks like any building
When you pass it on the street,
Made of stone and glass and marble,
Made of iron and concrete.
But once inside you can ride
A camel or a train,
Visit Rome, Siam, or Nome,
Feel a hurricane,
Meet a king, learn to sing,
How to bake a pie,
Go to sea, plant a tree,
Find how airplanes fly,
Train a horse, and of course
Have all the dogs you'd like,
See the moon, a sandy dune,
Or catch a whopping pike.
Everything that books can bring
You'll find inside those walls.
A world is there for you to share
When adventure calls.

You cannot tell its magic
By the way the building looks,
But there's wonderment within it,
The wonderment of books.

A good library will never be too neat, or too dusty, because somebody will always be in it, taking books off the shelves and staying up late reading them. Lemony Snicket

A library is a good place to go when you feel unhappy, for there, in a book, you may find encouragement and comfort. E.B. White

I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library. Jane Austen

Knowledge is free at the library. Just bring your own container. Author Unknown

A trip to the library is like coming home and going on an adventure at the same time. Megan Shepherd

A library, no matter how big or small, is a careful balance of love and responsibility. A machine, if you will, cranked by those who care most about reading. Kimberly Karaliu

Without libraries what have we? We have no past and no future. Ray Bradbury
