Sheilah Beckett was born in Canada in 1913. She died in 2013 - yes she was 100 and I was amazed to discover she was working on her final book aged 99. I picked this book up at a charity book sale today. The retail price (it is still in print) is close to $15 and I paid 50 cents for a mint condition copy.
